First Post

Welcome to my blog's first post! Are you here because I've just written this? Or are you looking back here from the future, wondering what was going through the head of this random Homestuck fan? Well wonder no more, for I shall share some of my Homestuck related thoughts from today.

As a gay polyamorous person, quadrants are really appealing to me. The idea that I could be in relationships with 5 different people and have completely unique relationships with each of them that are recognized by the people around me is something of a dream. I could do without the strict adherance to procreation, but the human institute of marriage isn't much better in that regard either.

I've seen some people argue that kismesissitude is unhealthy, but I think those people would benefit from watching something like season two of Bridgerton. Now that is a kismesissitude if I've ever seen one. And it's accepted by the people around them for what it is- romance.

I know during the height of Homestuck, there were plenty of teens on Tumblr posting about having a moirail or a kismesis, and I know that sometimes this is looked back on as if it was cringy or a sign of immaturity, but I really think the fact that quadrants as an alternate form of romance resonated with so many people is reflective of the public unconscious' want for non-heteronormative, polyamorous, alternative forms of romance outside of the standard that the institution of marriage presents to us.

Now, I'm not saying that everyone needs to fill all their quadrants immediately, but I do think that alternative forms of committed relationships- such as QPRs and, yes, quadrants- are something that are a natural reaction to the society we live in. People wanting more freedom to define relationships by their own standards rather than by society's standards is something that I can relate to.
